"Worthy is the Lamb" - Fine Art Print

from $25.00

It’s not uncommon to refer to Jesus as the Lion and the Lamb, but generally, I would venture to say that this is not what the typical person has in mind. A Lamb with 7 eyes, 7 horns, and having appeared to have been slain, isn’t the comfy cozy image we are used to seeing. This is, however, how the Lord chose to represent Himself in Revelation 5.

Revelation 5: 1-7 NKJV

“And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”  And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.  But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.

And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.”

In the Old Testament, the horn is a symbol of strength and power as seen in Daniel’s visions. So for this Lamb to not just have horns but 7, represents Jesus’s complete and perfect Strength and Power. The 7 horns and 7 eyes represent the sevenfold Spirit of the Lord and though these 7 are not named explicitly in Revelation, they are in Isaiah 11:2:

“The Spirit of the Lord (1) will rest on him (referring to Jesus)— the Spirit of wisdom (2) and of understanding (3), the Spirit of counsel (4) and of might (5), the Spirit of the knowledge (6) and fear of the Lord (7)”

My prayer is that the Spirit of the Lord, in all His beautiful ways, would reveal Himself to you more. I pray that your search for Him wouldn’t be hindered by pre-conceived ideas about Him and instead fueled by a genuine search for the reality of who He is.

If you would like to learn more about the Sevenfold Spirit of the Lord there is a great teaching from Mercy Culture Church that you can find on YouTube called, “Strengthening Foundations of Faith | The 7 Spirits of God | Pastor Jasmine Weiler”.

Lastly, I will leave you with a quote from C.S. Lewis from his Chronicles of Narnia Series: “Is He Safe?” “Safe?” said Mr. Beaver. “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course He isn’t safe. But He’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” and Mr. Tummnus adds, “He’s wild, you know. Not a tame lion.”
